I took it in for the first oil change around 5500mi and the service manager rode with me so I could replicate the problem for him. He said that the '07 was the first year to get a "drive by wire" throttle system. Went on to say I was giving more inputs to the computer than it could handle and the "clunk" was it trying to quickly react to my actions. I don't drive the car hard or anything - if I wanted a zippier one I'd have gotten the Si. It is frustrating though about the clunk especially since it seems to be getting steadily worse.

Do any of you tech savy guys know anything about this drive by wire thing? Is it causing the problem or do I need to get a 2nd opinion on my transmission?
I think it's mainly the software that controls the shifting. For example, for the 07 toyota camry I4, TONS of people are complaining about a similar type of hesitation with their transmissions. They got enough people to complain so toyota is developing software updates to make it run smoother. I've gone to the dealer numerous times to try and get it fixed but i always get the "it's supposed to be like that" response. Best bet is to keep bugging the dealer. If enough of us complain about this, maybe honda will do something.

btw 06 was the first year model with dbw so ur dealer is full of crap
