It's the fuel pump. It does it when you move the car in the morning or after it's been sitting there for several hours. You don't have to turn the wheel but as soon as you do it does it right away. I guess the turning of the wheel triggers it sooner because the computer thinks the car is moving or ready to be driven. If you don't turn the wheel, that sound comes on a little later and you won't notice it because you 're revving the motor more or you have the radio on. It sometimes happens to me (and the '01 I had) when I 'm at the end of my 85ft driveway or as soon as I 'm on the street and put it in 1st and go forward. But that sound usually comes on within the first 15ft of pulling out of my driveway. I probably depends on the weather and how long the car 's been sitting there turned off.
So relax everyone. It's a non-issue. I have a lot more serious problems like my LX coupe MT has never tracked straight since I bought it and a wheel alignment didn't do anything. Going back to the dealer. I wish a little sound was the only problem I had..

idk man i have a different opinion... not saying you'r wrong but i think its just the gears when you back up they go backwards anad then when you swich to drive and lightly accelerate it goes the other way making the clicking sound... it happens to me when i dont fully stop on the stop sign... then the car downshifts and it makes the same noise... thats what i think mine is loud i think... just like a loud clank...
