New 07 Si Sedan with 4700 miles. Like many other people, I've been having problems shifting into 3rd. Sometimes it feels like it doesn't want to go in, and I could feel and hear the resistance, pretty nasty noise. I've discovered a method to reduce the likelihood of it happening, but it requires a conscious effort where I'd have to remind myself "Hey it's that 2nd->3rd gear shift you better do this". If I forget, or try to shift too fast
Had 2 dealerships look at it and all they can tell me is that I'm shifting too fast (wth's a short shifter in the Si for anyways?). I told him no, because then i'd have problems with all the other gear changes too not ONLY 2nd->3rd, but they still won't admit the problem. One (Huggins Honda) even blew me off when I offered to try and demonstrate the problem to their mechanic(after their "2 best technicians" couldn't replicate the problem) - they told me to make an appointment and come back.
I decided to take matters into my own hands and try to go home and swap the MTF with the new Honda MTF #9031. But when I opened the fill hole oil came POURRINGG out. Turns out my MTF was overfilled, by almost half a qt... WTG Honda...
That helped with the 3rd gear a little, but I'm still not satisfied. Thinking about calling the dealership up and telling them what happened, think they'll believe me? I'm tired of wasting my time with these people... I went ahead and even ordered the AMSOIL MTF (my last resort since I didn't want to use non-Honda "genuine" MTF). Probably will change it next weekend when it gets here.
Just giving a heads up to next Si guy/gal out there that has a notchy 3rd, check out your MTF
