I think making kids responsible for the car teaches good things. My first car was a 10 year old hand-me-down and I would beat that thing all the time. As soon as I broke it they put me in charge of fixing it or getting a different car. I opted for the different car. My father cosigned for me but everything was in my name and all the bills got sent to me. Needless to say I took much better care of that car, and it was only $5,000. Now I got a 16,000 car and I baby that thing like crazy.
Handing kids cars all the time isn't going to help anything. Especially with that girl tikolx was talking about. She's growing up with the understanding that she can treat things however she wants and if she screws up, she can always start over new again.
Maybe I'm just bitter because my parents made me work for everything.
